“From Earth to Mars, Rosie must learn the secrets of the box – before it’s too late”.

The Rosie Black Chronicles

Book 1: Genesis

Book 2: Equinox

Five hundred years into the future, the world is a different place. The Melt has sunk most of the coastal cities and Newperth is divided into the haves, the “Centrals”; the have-nots, the “Bankers”; and the fringe dwellers, the “Ferals”.

When I looked up this series I noticed that a few people commented on the fact that it was Science Fiction. I honestly hadn’t really even registered this. I guess this might explain why a lot of people who aren’t fans of sci/fi enjoyed this series. Yes, there are spaceships and different planets but really this series is about a girl stumbling on a secret and suddenly finding herself on the run. It’s not so much about gadgets, but more about trying not to get shot. There is a bit of romance in these books too, but mostly it’s all about the action. In a nice break with YA tradition, our hero Rosie sometimes works with, rather than separate from, the adults. This is fast-paced fun and adventure.
